samurai

/ˈsam(j)ʊrʌɪ/

Samurai means ‘warrior or knight’. It is derived from the Japanese verb ‘saburau’ which means ‘to serve.’ Capably switching between pen and sword (they were also scholars), the samurai were known to throw their bodies into the unknown and the uncertain to fulfil their mission. What anchored them was their relentless commitment to a greater cause.

samurai was born out of a search for honesty and authenticity. It took years of trying on pieces from every “New Arrivals” aisle to realise it wasn’t about the garments looking right..what we found didn’t feel right either.

There we were; two best friends, texting late into the night, exchanging wistful dreams of the perfect wardrobe that not only looked good but also wasn’t wasteful. Armed only with common Pinterest board we decided to take a leap, first for ourselves and then for you. After two years of rigorous research, setbacks and the willpower to say no when it wasn’t right, we’ve finally launched samurai.

The spirit of samurai and how they faced adversity inspired us - with integrity, courage, honesty, responsibility and wisdom. Not to mention their straight-up, high octane supercool-ness. Anyway. We think of ourselves as samurai-in-training for the future. For the planet and for the people.

We’d love to hear from you!
